PROGRESS OF ADVERTISEMENT.........

So here is the image again i used for the digipack. I wanted to use this for my advert aswell. 

So far i just added text using the text tool on photoshop. Writing on it 'Out Now'. I made the out now quite big so it stands out for the audience. I had problems in deciding where to put it, playing round with it alot, so decided to put it in the bottom, being quite big in white writing, as this is consistance throughtout my whole digipack. 

After i added some more vital information. About the release of the song. 

I then added the main title of the artist "alex". this took me forever to decide in what colour to make it and where to place it. First i put the text in white next to her. But after i got feedback i changed the colour and placed it at the top left, as Dan thought would look better and more visible to see. 

So as it starts to develope i was adding additinal information. Like the relase dates, production lable and etc. 

So here is more information i added and played around with colours, text and front. Its nearly done...

I got feedback from Dan and he said i should change some colours and place some of the text where you can see it more clearly because of my image being quite strong cant see the text proerply so i played around with it and changed the realse date under 'Out Now'. Which looks much better. 

FINAL LOOK OF ADVERTISEMENT!!. So here i added the last parts the record lable company the where you can find the Album 'HMV, ITunes' stores. I hope you like it :D . So proud of it aswell :D !!

Making the Inside Panels

For my inside left panel initially all I wanted was a close up shot:

But after I took the pictures a second time with Renee I had done more research and plane exactly what type of shot I wanted, because when I went to took the pictures the first time, the close up shot was the hardest picture to take, I thought the shot would just come to me. But it didn’t. So the second time instead, I went after the picture. 

The picture I liked best for this panel is this one:

Remember my idea for this picture was to put the floral graphics on the floor where she’s sitting. So I cut her put in Photoshop, and then added in a wall by drawing i lines then inserting a grudge texture picture from google,

so it looks like she actually sitting. Then to do the floor, it was the same as with advertisement and the font – copy and paste.

This is how it looks so far:

My initial idea for my CD housing I was quite satisfied with so I just went along with that idea, which was this:

Then cut it, added the shadows...

 and also copied and pasted the final font from my advertisement.  

After everything as done I went through my digipack and coloured everything in. 











P.S. if you noticed that I'm not posting up the completed panels, thats because I wanted to save it all till the end and not diminish the effect. :)

Making the Advertisment

This was my mock up of my advertisement:

And was these were the pictures I wanted to use for it. So placed them into Photoshop and cut them out.

Before I put I fixed up the image in terms of shadow and position, I wanted to put the text I first. So, as the same when doing the back panel, I made a document with the same measurements as the advertisement in Photoshop – which was much simpler this time because it was just an A4 piece of paper.

I copied and pasted the text in from Word, then changed the font to American Typewriter.

I look at some more album promotion poster and came across this one:

I liked the way Eminem put all the writing in one corner like that because it gave more focus on the picture, and I wanted to achieve this, so I tried to imitate this:

  I still think it needs a bit more work, but
  I’ll tweak it more when I add the pictures for the record
  label, distributor, available places to buy the album from.

After I went back into Photoshop to try and now properly focus on the picture. I added in shadows around her feet and fingers - the same way i did for my front cover. 

In the picture i have already added in the pictures for the 

feet and am doing the shadows for the fingers.

However, when I put it all in the corner I was left with a place space in the middle. Coincidently, I stilled needed to include the floral graphics on the advertisement to make it more linked to my digipack, and that empty space was the perfect place to put it. So just like how I did with the new font, I copied and pasted pieces of the floral graphics and old font and tried to creatively put them together for the advertisement.

Reconstructing the Font

As I mentioned in the previous blog, Rebecca advised my that my current font does not work. So, as I said, I went home and did some work on it. After asking my family to give my their advice as an audience, I decided that I might just be best getting a whole new font. I went onto a website called 

dafont.com and found a font that I liked and I think went with my genre called ‘Dutch and Harley.’ This font came with Glyphs that I could use to add some design to it, and it  suited the floral graphics that I wanted to use in my digipack. So I downloaded it.

This what the font looked like when I typed Alex into the website to try out the font:

It doesn’t have a capital A.

I constructed the font in InDesign because I was writing in the font of my advertisement anyway. After I wrote out the name on my advertisement, I went onto Type-Glyphs, to get the designs that came with it, because otherwise the font didn’t look nice, or captivate the theme of my digipack.

     I basically had to be creative and try to discover what will work and what wouldn’t work. With what designs the font gave me I was able to come up with this:

But it wasn’t enough. This is where my old font came in handy. I was able to use some of the floral drawings off the font and add them into my new font. To do this I just selected what I wanted to use in Illustrator, then simply copied and pasted it into InDesign.

This is how it looked in the end.

I was happy with this because I still enable for the floral idea I was heading for, and it stood out very well from afar-which is what Rebecca said my other font lacked. Also my old font wasn’t a complete waste of time. I now just need to some this to a teacher and see if I have their approval.
