This was our brief for the lip sync music video tutorial:
- we were given a song by our media teacher and had to allocate roles to different people, at first we had just one main singer then when we were filming we tried out having backing singers and it looked better so we went with this. it was good in three ways; one way it would look better, second was that we would have a choice over which one to use, and thirdly we would have more footage, which means more variety in our music video for the audience to watch. we had to include a handheld tracking close up of the singer, handheld long shot, mid shot, long shot, and 2 other shot of our choice.
I think that it was really hard grasping the concepts of making a music video for example recording a whole take and not stopping even if we went wrong, it was also challenging in a good way. The new skills i have learned from from this lip syncing tutorial is that
YOU CAN NEVER SHOOT TO MANY TAKES!
I also learned how to edit a music video in final cut pro, there are different ways of editing a music video but the way that Micky (the technician) taught us was cutting the footage to the beat. For example you would line up all of the different footage that you have and you would listen to the music that you have inserted into final cut pro and listen for every fourth beat for example and you would cut it at every fourth beat. Then you would take out different cuts so that there would be a variety of different shots, also this will look good because it will change to the beat. when it changes to the beat it makes it more exciting & interesting for the audience to watch.
Here are some pictures of me editing our lip sync music video:

Here is the lip sync music video we made:
The good things about our music video is that the lip syncing matched and the cuts of the song went with the beats, i also think that there was a good range of angles, however there are a lot of things we could improve on for example we could have had more locations, or the camera work could have been better.
I think that this was very valuable lesson because it gave us an experience of making music videos.
