Examination of website for the original artist and how it is used to promote their brand image and songs.

The Homage of Relentless Records, which KT Tunstall is signed to, shows singles CD covers of KT Tunstall among other signed artists CD covers. This promotes the brand because the images depict/translate to the audience through mise en scene of costume, i.e. black clothes, casual dress, and props i.e. guitar, stage, who she is and what type of person. Also, the font used on her singles covers sell her brand because it appeals to her audience who like her type of rock/soul genre and style of music.

     When you move the cursor over the images more information comes up of where you can buy the songs: Amazon and iTunes.

     The hyperlink ‘Artists’ on the left on the page revel a drop down list with all their artists. When you click on KT Tunstall name a hyperlink takes you to her website.

Her websites uses majority of dark colours, i.e. black, with a contrast of a small use of bright colours, i.e. pink, green, blue, and white etc. This sells her image of an artist who is of two genres; rock and soul, and it also invites the audience to get a taste of her personality. Pictures of her litter the page, helping the audience get familiar with her.

     On the website in the middle of the page, there is a big box labelled ‘Latest News.’ This is so that the audience can be aware and up to date with her and what she is doing. Lastly, hyperlinks are sprinkled over the page that leads her audience to more information of her: tour dates, news, gigs, gallery, shop, community and much more. Her songs are also available to play and listen to whilst on her website.

All of this promotes her as an artist because it builds her image and brand and helps establish it with her audience, and also help her establish a loyal audience and fan base.
