Our teacher gave us some feed back on some of the do's and don'ts of music videos:
She noticed that these things didn't really work in a music video, here are some of the things the we are not permitted to do or include in our music video:
-HOODIES
-MOBILE PHONES
-NO NARRATIVE FLASHBACKS IN BLACK AND WHITE
-NO OVERACTING

Tip One: When you are planning your music video keep in mind your editing because there are some music videos filmed with the editing in mind. e.g. Franz Ferdinand 'cant stop feeling'
Tip Two: Try to include a repeated motifs, things that run through the whole video, slow motion, jump cuts etc.
Tip Three: Try and avoid narratives, try and do amplification or disjuncture.
Tip Four: Think about genre, locations, budget, performers, try not to do R'n'B, plan your costumes, lighting, produce animatic, storyboard the whole thing.
Tip Five: Try not to use a track that's been in the charts because it will be a well known song and people will compare they original with yours.
