A visual Motif is something (item or prop etc), that is repeated and seen throughout a music video. Its something that relates to the song, or something that isnt too obvious. A very good example of this is in the song video of the Black eye Peas- Where is the love'. The visual motif in there video is the question mark.
The question mark as you can see from the video above relates to their main chorus of their song 'Where is the love'? By putting the question mark it gives the audience a visual idea and keeps them stuck in with what the song it trying to say and get out of. I think this kind of idea of a repeated image is very different and interesting, i really like this kind of idea.
For our VISUAL MOTIF we all decided on having a pair of bright glasses worn by every person in our video. Its not the kind of pair that you would wear because you cant see its them glasses that are in fashion and quite quirky and funky patterened. We thought that this will be an interesting and great idea to have as an repeated item. However when we told our teacher Dan, he thought that it would be better to have eyes instead of glasses, because he told us that if we make people wear the glasses, it would imply that they couldn't see instead (we didnt really think about that), and that the connotation would contradict our lyrics and it would relate and link in better if we had great shots of peoples eyes only. After taking his feedback we thought and decided for Dan to show us an example by Videoing my Eyes. And after seen it it made more sense to us and yes it was a better idea. So our final visual motif is EYES.
(Im so excited to film this i really cant wait heheh)!!!!
